Trip Reports

June 17 Upper Upper Manistee

Published on 6/17/2017
Trees have shifted making the launch easier, yet more difficult right after entry. Plenty of rain in the last few days had the water level up and made the river a joy to paddle. Even our old nemesis of a huge downed tree was easily negotiated. The bank had eroded so that the boats less than 10' could wiggle past the enormous root wad on river left, plus the higher than normal water volume made for a quick passage over the logs on river right smooth for the longer kayaks & canoes.

This is the upper Manistee - a kayak paddle almost goes from bank to bank. Jackie

We even had sun and blue skies for awhile (after a little bit of rain).  Lois

The iris were in bloom

A veritable bouquet met us today:
Yellow & Showy Lady Slippers, Blue Flag Iris, Canada Anemone, and Indian Paintbrush.
