July 9 Middle Little Manistee

Who came? 
Lois & John, Pam & Harold (thanks for shuttling), Jackie, Tracie, Glenn, Linnaea, Carrie & Dan
Where?
From the roadside pullout upstream from Driftwood Valley Campground to Nine Mile Road
What happened?
The sun shined (it began to rain as we drove home)
Saw two bald eagles sitting together in a big white pine
Braked for a deer during the morning shuttle
Did 97 back ferries, leaned downstream 11 times, ducked under 29 branches, found 53 eddies, bashed over 8 floating trees
Had lunch at an empty Bear Track CG, complete with picnic tables and spotless potty
Saw no other folks on the river, and numerous empty cottages
John did a big lumberjack job, with assistance from Harold and Glenn
Enjoyed the peaceful quiet
Found just 4 or 5 bits of trash
Told lots of funny stories
Got to know a new member of the group
Vowed that we shall return to this gorgeous stretch of river - perfect for a weekend
