Trip report by Linda Farmer; photos by John & Jocelyn This beautiful day started out a bit chilly as evidenced by several of our savvy paddlers trying to maneuver into kayaks without having to get their feet wet. Everyone had a different technique, a sight to behold...lol. The afternoon brought wonderful fall temps and sunny skies. The Upper Pine, as stated by Lois, was indeed "just exquisite". The water was clear, the current quick, and the many mini-rapids providing a bit of fun as we tried to maneuver around a good number of submerged rocks and downed trees. The quiet and beauty was breathtaking as we traveled like ducks in a row through the many twists and turns of the river. At one point we came upon a small island where an abandoned canoe sat with its paddles and life preservers strewn conspicuously on the ground around it. As we gathered at lunch there were several conspiracy theories offered as to the whereabouts of the occupants. On the final leg of the trip, our group of ten came upon a group of sixteen adults having a rip roaring time as they precariously paddled in a jumbled knot-like formation leaving us to sneak through one by one where we could. Our mission to stay out ahead of them for the duration of the trip was successful. They were, however, a very cordial group (no pun intended...lol). Not to go unnoticed, Bella and Max joined us on this trip which just happened to be National Dog Day. Photos by Jocelyn Photo by John
