Oct 5 - Sturgeon Thrillseeker

Published on 10/8/2017

Great fall paddle with Bob F & Jocelyn on a cool, mid-50s afternoon. The Sturgeon was high after Sun's rain so fast & well-covered gravel bars. Eddy was tempting us to come for a visit, but no beginners in our group. Only one downed tree upstream of N White Rd, but we were able to duck under, though tight fit! Not a lot of fall colors along the river, but better along US 131 & Thumb Lake Rd. The Sturgeon is one of my favorite rivers, fastest in lower peninsula, narrow with tight bends, lots of riffles to ride, great stretch between Wolverine & Fisher Woods to test your skills!
