Trip Reports

July 22 Boardman River, Forks to Brown Bridge Landing

Published on 7/22/2018
People: Lois, Jocelyn, Jacqui, Anne, Don, Gerald and Sue.  John Heiam helped us with the shuttle - what a guy!

The rain stopped - we had moved the trip from Saturday to Sunday because of a wet (and accurate) forecast.   The sun came out, and we had a tailwind!

One person had a close encounter with a downed tree, but managed to extricate herself.  One person learned that you need ropes at least ten feet long on the bow and stern of your boat, in case you want to tie the rope around your waist while you are trying to help someone else.  You also might need that length to tie up to a tree.

One person learned to look out for rocks, since that person ended up taking an unplanned swim break.  Two people helped with paddling instruction.  One dog rejected his chicken snack while we took a short break at the horse crossing.  Several people learned how to ferry and do eddy turns.

I taught some teenage boys how to load a canoe on the roof of a car, after they helped us bring boats up the stairs at the takeout.  Several of us had a lovely lunch with the shuttle driver at Bob Evans.
