June 9 - Morning Boardman cleanup, Shumsky to Beitner

Published on 6/9/2019
The third date was a charm!  We completed the BRCS mission!  Today the river level was low enough so that we could get under the personal bridges.  We found onion bags and shorts, flip flops and beer cans (both full and empty), water bottles and plastic bags, a canoe paddle and one rather large planter.  The new guy David learned a lot from the other experienced river pickers: Lois, John, Jocelyn and Marlene.  We saw ducks and a bald eagle.  The rain held off until later in the afternoon; we were off the river by noon.

We will have to return on a really hot day to get some stuff that was in too deep, or up on high banks.  It would be handy to have a tandem canoe so that the bow person can jump out to reach a few items we couldn't get this time.

Jocelyn thought this PFD would give her more freedom of movement!

Jocelyn dug this out of the bushes.

Keeping watch over the river.

The first iris of the season for me.

Jocelyn catches the mallards just at take-off.

Two paths diverged in a stream, and David took the one less traveled by....

John has his PFD under his jacket, hence the hunchback look.

I'm not quite sure how someone can lose their shorts on the river.
