Trip Reports

August 22 Sturgeon River

Published on 8/22/2019
Lesson learned: don't get too far ahead of the group.
People: John & Lois - the fearless leaders, Ron - the lumberjack, Kathleen - the peel-out queen, Jocelyn - the Ansel Adams clone, Tracie - the driver, Jackie - the announcer & shoe trader, Glenn - the savior & sweep.
It was a perfect late summer day. The late summer wildflowers were in bloom, the humidity was down, the bugs were gone, and we had a group of  great friends on a beautiful river.
Photos by John, Jocelyn, and Glenn

Everyone in kayaks did otter launches to keep their feet dry

The three people in canoes just stepped into their canoes

Ron showed people how to make a splash at the first drop

The skies were picture perfect all day

John gets ready for the waves after the second drop

Kayaks look like colorful water bugs from the bridge

High bush cranberry lined the banks of the river

Lunch at Rondo Road Access

Woodchuck along the bank

An early sign of fall

In spots along the river, cedars created a canopy

John delivers Glenn's first aid kit while Ron continues to saw the tree blocking the river.

A path has been cleared

These folks would never support an alcohol ban
