August 27 Boardman Lake

Kathy, Kathleen and I met at the appointed time at Hull Park, unloaded our boats, and decided that without a spray skirt, Kathy would not be able to handle the wind and waves in a safe manner. So Kathleen and I suited up and launched. As soon as we could see around the sailing school building, we looked to the west to see a massive thunderstorm approaching. We were taking waves over the bows of our kayaks, so we headed to the apartments on the near east shore. At that point, the waves were blocked by an outcropping of land. Turned around in slack water and headed back to the boat ramp - barely had to paddle - the wind just sent us back. Total time on the water was about 6 minutes. We got our boats back on the cars, and drove home. I encountered a whole bunch of rain on Parsons and Munson, but back home in Acme, the sun was shining!
