Trip Reports

September 17 Upper Platte

Published on 9/17/2019
I posted this trip just  two days in advance, and was so pleased when Patty (a club member from downstate) and Ed (her friend from West Virginia) signed up.  It's a pleasure to have two companions who understand how to do a shuttle efficiently, and also one who can save me when I get stuck teetering on a newly downed tree.

I was volunteering in a calculus class that morning, so we met for a delightful brunch at Rico's first and then headed to the Upper Platte.  The temps were in the high 70s!  I had been wearing rubber boots for my last three paddling trips this fall, but today I put on sandals and was good to go.  Lots of sunshine, and quite a few schools of salmon.  We encountered 2 or 3 small groups of fishermen, but all were polite and we passed by quickly.  Quite a few birds too!  And the shuttle ride back was one of the most efficient I've ever done!
