June 28 Manistee: US-131 to Baxter Bridge

Published on 6/28/2020

Today we went canoeing on the Manistee River, it was pretty fun! It took about 4 hours including the stop for lunch. Fourteen people went, including me and my host sister Gracie. I was in front of the canoe with John Heiam. As we paddled, we saw a turtle and a bald eagle. We have turtles in Brazil, of course, but not bald eagles, so that was fun to see.
After we were done we had ice cream at Woodland Sweets ( Thanks a lot for the ice cream!). I had never been canoeing until I came to northern Michigan, but now I have been twice. The two rivers (this one and the Lower Platte) were pretty different, so that made it more interesting. Thanks a lot for such a fun experience!
Other participants were Deena, Betty & Mike, Pam & Harold, Susan and John from Florida, Donna & Tom and Marlene (with shuttle service by Marv).
