August 2 Brown Bridge Landing to Beitner

Report by Lois - sorry - no photos since we were too busy paddling.
A week ago I hosted a Sunday morning Boardman trip that began at 8 AM, and got ten registrants. It appeared that a similar trip would be a "best seller", and so I put this one on the calendar immediately. Consequently, I was surprised that today's trip - which began at 9 AM - involved only the duo of Marlene and me. We saw no other paddlers the entire way from BBL to Beitner - just one fisherman, a few people having breakfast at their cabins, a huge flock of ducks, gobs of cedar waxwings (they seemed to really like my Tilley hat - good taste), and a gorgeous great blue heron.
The water levels are kind of low now, since we haven't had any substantial rain for a while, so we had to avoid some gravel bars just waiting to catch our boats. No problems there, and none at the low bridges - though I still had to duck at the lowest one.
Both of our hubbies met us at the takeout, and it was off to a well-deserved lunch at Rico's. Later, when John dropped me off to retrieve my car at Brown Bridge Landing, there was a group of about 15 people ready to launch in a variety of tubes, inflatable unicorns and a few kayaks. Glad we got out in the morning - everyone else missed a great trip very close to home!
