A terrific and enjoyable afternoon paddle on the Manistee River – beginning at Woodpecker Creek and ending at Red Bridge. Shuttles were provided by Tracie and Glen.
Ten paddles set-off on a sunny, 80 degree day. Eight people in kayaks (Jackie, trip host Lindy, Ron, Tracie, Brian, Linda, Susan and Paul). Two people in solo canoes (Bob and Glenn).
Ron started the trip having cold feet (from the inlet water of Woodpecker Creek). Water cannons provided cooling and wet entertainment between the scenic views of the high banks and waterfalls along the way. A few adventurous paddlers took an opportunity to take an impromptu swim - ; ) .
A sunny riverside beach provided a relaxing lunch break. There were numerous sunning turtle sightings along the second half of the trip. The group took the right hand river fork than seemed less traveled . . . as the river current slowed near the end of the trip. Dinner at the Hofbrau House wrapped up a perfect day. Paul Wilkins
