June 9 Pine River: Dobson to Low

My first Pine paddle of the season, 14 miles from Dobson to Low Bridge at 257 cfs, thanks to Ronald Coyne for planning, Lois Goldstein for leading & Marv for the shuttle. Permits are for 8 paddlers, but only 6 TAPC members joined in (2 missing due to Covid). It was a cool day, looked like rain at the start & at lunch, but cleared up both times. The riffles just before Peterson Bridge, and just after were the biggest, even got my feet wet on the one after lunch. We had 4 canoes, Brad, Wayne, Bob & me, and 2 kayaks, Lois & Marlene. We spotted columbine, turtles, mergansers, and a blue heron. There were several fishermen downstream of Peterson, and one had made a catch. Brad carpooled with me from Blair Township Hall, which was convenient since I live close by, so able to unload my canoe trailer, and join in on the Ride for Peace from downtown to Farm Club, which was a benefit for World Central Kitchen's efforts to feed starving refugees & homeless in Ukraine.
