Jackie, Ron and I donned drysuits & booties and then launched above the tubes at Beitner Rapids. Considering it was the end of October, the conditions were just about perfect, and the sun even peeked out through the clouds a few times. We all had a fun time catching eddies along the way, and Ron and I were even successful (sometimes!) at catching surfing waves and playing on them. I think Jackie caught a bit of whitewater fever, as she plans to order a helmet, and join in on the "attempting-to-surf" fun! Way to go, Jackie!
In the biggest wave train section below Cass Road, Jackie spotted a submerged red kayak. Who knows how long it has been stuck there??? We then had a pleasant "beauty paddle" in the flatwater section upstream of the YMCA takeout.
All three of us vowed to run the rapids more often and polish up our skills! All in all, a great day to be on the water, with great people!
