What a perfect day to be on the Boardman - again! Who would have thought we'd win the Triple Crown of paddling: warm, sunny weather, a good water level, and great people to share in the fun! Jackie, Ron, Linnaea, Sara, and I met at the launch above the tubes, and after visiting with a few other paddlers who came to play and surf, we suited up and headed down the river. Jackie was sporting her brand new helmet and looked positively stunning. Linnaea and Sara chose great lines to run, and Sara aced her run through the big boulders in the rapids near Lone Pine - no small feat in a canoe! Ron and I continued our attempts at catching the goofier midstream eddies and surf waves. In this writer's opinion, Ron was much more successful than said writer... Jackie tried surfing for the first time, beginning with the smaller waves, and she and that new helmet really shone! Watch out: before long she'll be doing blunts, bow stalls, and stern squirts.
I think the only thing that could top today's run would be if we got yet another warm November day with a bit of rain beforehand, and folks who wanted to go for a THIRD Beitner Rapids run! Fingers crossed...🤞
