July 12 - Haserot Beach to Old Mission Point

The weather sprites looked kindly on us for today's paddle to Old Mission Point. Paul, Irene, Jacqui and I met at Haserot Beach for our out and back picnic paddle. We could not believe the conditions: no waves, no wind, no beating sun, mild-for-July temps, and no power boats! We had a leisurely paddle to the point, chatting along the way, while marveling on how pleasant the day was. It felt as though we had the east side of the peninsula to ourselves! The water level is down from last year, so this time around we had to be a bit more careful making our way through the shoals area, but all hulls came through unscathed! We paddled past the lighthouse to find a spot on the beach where there were no people and then enjoyed our picnic and visit. The trip back was just as pleasant. There was a Bald Eagle circling over Haserot Beach as we returned to shore.
Great weather, water and people - we're living the dream!
