This will be an out and back paddle on East Grand Traverse Bay from Haserot Beach Park to the tip of the Old Mission Peninsula, where we will stop for a picnic lunch on the beach, so bring your lunch, water, and something to sit on. Paddle time will be approximately 1-1.5 hours each way, depending on wind/waves and the participants' abilities. This trip is usually accomplished in smooth water due to the prevailing winds from the west, but conditions can change, so participants must have had some experience with wind/waves and changing conditions. Kayaks must be at least 12 feet long and have sealed bulkheads both bow and stern. A properly fitting PFD MUST be worn at all times on the water, and sprayskirts are required. Be sure to have a water bottle that is accessible when paddling. Please bring a drybag containing a towel and change of clothes. A paddle float and bilge pump are recommended. If waves are predicted to be over 2 feet at the start time, I will cancel the trip. For safety reasons, the group is to stay together.

Directions to the park:

From TC, take M-37 north along the Old Mission Peninsula. About 15 miles north of Front Street, turn right (east) on Swaney Road, and drive about one mile to Haserot Beach.
