Join Friends of Sleeping Bear Adopt-A River group for the annual Lower Platte River Cleanup.

It’s Lower Platte River Clean-up time again!  Let’s keep our rivers clean.

Tuesday, June 13th at 9:00 am

We will meet at the Platte River Picnic Area kayak launch on Lake Michigan Rdat M-22. It is located across the river from Riverside Canoe.  We’ll meet in the parking lot at 9:00 am and provide everyone with a brief welcome/orientation and tools needed for the task, and we’ll prepare to begin the clean-up.  Riverside Canoe will provide transportation to drop off vehicles at the end. Please let us know if you plan on attending by sending an email to Dan Georgevich: dan@dangeorgevich.com (please specify whether you are bringing your own boat or one is needed).

We'll have grabbers and volunteer vests for your use. Kayaks can be provided by Riverside Canoe (let us know if you want a two-passenger), but you can bring your own if you desire. If you bring your own kayak, bring it to the meeting pointWe will drop cars at the end and get shuttled back to the start.  A light lunch will be provided after the clean-up. The Trading Post has volunteered to provide pizza!

Good things to bring with you:

  • Shoes, or something for your feet, you never know what's under the water should you tip over
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Spray
  • Water
  • Hat and or sunglasses

Join us for the fun!

We looking forward to seeing everyone. Thanks again for volunteering!
