This mini "clinic" is intended for kayakers who would like to do more challenging paddles on bigger water, and/or who want to learn and practice deep-water rescue maneuvers in a safe and controlled environment. It will be a fairly strenuous afternoon, and not suitable for those with limited mobility, joint issues, or a fear of being upside down in a kayak! We will be in the water much of the time, so dress for immersion, and bring any additional paddlewear you might need if you tend to get cold. Please wear water shoes/sandals (no bare feet).
What we'll do: 1. In-boat gentle stretches, followed by a quick paddling loop to get the "kinks" out
2. Wet Exit 3. Bow Rescue 4. Paddle Float Self Rescue
5. Assisted T-Rescue 6. Others/suggestions? Required:
A Michigan Recreation Passport is required at the DNR launch site.
