Trip Reports

May 19 South Branch of the AuSable

Published on 5/19/2017
I always love to show our friends new places to paddle, so having Greg and Babs along to see the South Branch of the AuSable for the first time was a real treat.  We saw two bald eagles, a wide assortment of fisherpersons, a swimming muskrat, a Blackburninan Warbler and a variety of waterbirds.  Jocelyn rode over with John & me, and Linda Farmer enjoyed her first TAPC trip of the season.   We paddled from Steckert Bridge to Smith Bridge at M-72, about 13 miles.  Good to see Tom Roberts, the owner of Paddle Brave, who shuttled our drivers before we launched in bright sunshine.

I love the way Jocelyn's Kevlar canoe looks when the sun shines through it.
