Trip Reports

June 3 Main AuSable

Published on 6/3/2019

Hi everybody,

I am Jules Poirette. I am a French exchange student and neighbor of Lois and John.  Last August, they had already taken me on my first canoe trip and we had a lot of fun. That’s why they organized this trip for my host brother Matt and me, on the AuSable River.  Before getting started, we had to get lunch, and so we met Jane and Linda at this little restaurant that makes amazing bread.  After getting done with our delicious lunch, we headed toward the start of our trip where we met our last two canoe mates, Bob and Mary.  After an unexpected swim, at the start, by our friend Bob, we finally hit the river and just like the voyageurs at their time, I was ready to discover all the secrets that Northern Michigan holds.  This was the perfect day to go paddling and the AuSable River was really beautiful.  Thank you very much to Lois and John for this fabulous day.
